Farnham’s second Lantern Festival will take place on Friday October 31st 2025. The inspiration for the Festival is the significant Celtic celebration which marks the end of the harvest season and the beginning of winter, taking stock of the past and looking forward to the future.
The Lantern Festival will welcome all parts of our community, young and old, to express their creativity, get involved in making a lantern, and come together to light up a dark October evening.
The Festival will start from 5.00pm with an outdoor gathering of all the participants with their lanterns on Gostrey Meadow, to enjoy live music and the opportunity to see everyone’s creations on the last day of October Craft Month. We will then set off at 6.30 to walk with our lighted lanterns to St Andrew’s Church, where the lanterns will be displayed as a large-scale communal craft endeavour.
Community groups, faith groups, care homes, pubs, clubs, schools and informal groups of friends are all encouraged to take part.
Lantern kits are available now from Farnham Town Council on South Street for £5 each. Opening hours 10.00-4.30pm Monday to Friday.
We also have a limited stock of free kits for community groups to incorporate into their craft activities. Contact hello@farnhamcrafttown.com to enquire.
